Welcome to Friends of Texas Becoming An Outdoors-Woman
Friends of Texas Becoming An Outdoors-Woman
The mission of the Friends of Texas BOW is to support and enhance the programs and activities
offered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife's Becoming An Outdoors-Woman program which is
“to provide an atmosphere where women feel comfortable learning new skills associated
with hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities, in a supportive and non-threatening environment.”

Our primary goal is to raise funds to purchase equipment and supplies that
can be used by BOW participants at the BOW workshops.
We also provide scholarships for BOW participants when needed.

Who Are
Friends of Texas BOW?
The Friends of Texas BOW (“Friends”) is an incorporated membership organization founded in 2013, exclusively for charitable and educational purposes by a group of women who participated in Texas Parks and Wildlife Becoming An Outdoors-Woman (“TPWD-BOW”) workshops and wanted to help the program continue to flourish.
What is Texas BOW?

Texas Parks & Wildlife's Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshops provide an atmosphere where women feel comfortable learning new skills associated with hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities, in a supportive and non-threatening environment.

Workshops span a weekend, usually beginning on Friday around noon and lasting through Sunday noon. The weekend is divided into four sessions and you pick the classes in which you'd like to participate. Typically, 6-8 classes per session are offered.

Class topics are diverse but can be divided into three areas: shooting sports, fishing, and non-harvest activities (like camping, kayaking, and plant identification). As much as possible the classes are taught with the "hands-on" approach and equipment is provided.
